Competitors, you’ll get your rashguards and rules dropped to you before the event… and the surfboards will be provided for you on the day. Mainly, remember to read through the surf ettiquette post by Mal… the judges will be cracking down more on surfers who drop into waves. Basically, if the judges see two surfers on the same wave, both competitors might receive deductions against their score. So, be gracious and take turns on the wave, in order. Everybody should line up on the same side of the wave (the right side, if you’re standing on the beach and looking out to the waves). Take turns… one surfer per wave, please.

About 30 minutes before the contest, SamyJo Ah, reigning surf champion and Surf Chix team rider, had to pull out leaving the field wide open for anyone to take her title. SamyJo will probably be happy to hear that fellow Surf Chix team rider, Frankie, took top placing!

At the height of the event, we had over 70 people spread over both Weather Island sims… an incredible turnout! Thanks to all the spectators for staying behind the line and watching from the bleachers — it helped with the lag issues, immensely!
