A Little Rant On Surfing And SL In General

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

First of all, I’d like to extend my sympathy and condolences to Thor’s family, SL and RL. Though I didn’t know him as well as Keala did, it’s always distressing and saddening to lose a member of the family, and as far as I’m concerned, he will always be a member of Namiko, and his spirit will always inspire us to succeed and show us what Namiko is all about.

Now then. I have a question for my fellow riders. Is it just me, or is the whole surfing thing just getting a little… I don’t know, lame? Stale? I mean, we’ve got like two tricks to do, it’s the same old nonsense over and over again. I wish there was something new, and I’m sure many of you can relate. That’s probably why I rarely see my fellow riders on the waves nowadays, and it’s that very same sentiment that causes me to slap my board in the sand instead of tearing it up like I used to.

I’m sure some of you (especially you, Keala) have noticed I don’t come around Second Life nearly as much as I used to. That is because, just as surfing, it’s all become so.. lame. You know? I wish there was something new, something revolutionary that would draw me in, make me love this virtual world again. I don’t know what point I’m trying to get across here, really I’m just looking for a little feedback. How many of you are sick of this repetitive crap, and if so, can you think of any ways to fix it / improve it? Cause I could use a couple suggestions. I’m running on empty. The contest idea is cool and was executed flawlessly, but it doesn’t seem like enough. God knows Keala has done enough for us, now it’s time we do something for Namiko ourselves. I don’t know, that’s just my five cents.

Take it or leave it.

Just Married.

To our friends and family, we, Maxwell Eclipse and Keala Mimistrobell, are happy to share that we were married in a very small, private wedding on Saturday the second of June 2007 at 1 pm SLT by the waterfall at Quan Li.

Thank you to all of you for your friendship, love and support these past few months. Thank you to Kou for being our officiant on such short notice (!), to Vivienne for designating yourself as our wedding photographer, and Dweedle for bringing the seating. And thank you to Jimbo and Kiana for coming, armed no less. We could never have made it this far without our friends.

Love you all,

Surf Demo… send feedback!

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

ATTENTION ALL NAMIKO SURFERS:

Max here. How would you like to show off your skills as a surfer? I’ve got a few ideas in my head, for a surfing demonstration. But I need YOUR help. I need some feedback.

So far, this is what Keala and I have been thinking…

  • It will feature SL’s top surfers doing what they do best.
  • Maybe take place on a Friday afternoon… maybe a 1 pm or 3 pm SLT time slot… everybody seems to be goofing off at the beach at that time anyway, why not get a little productivity in there too?
  • Introduce the idea of regular, scheduled surf lessons to help bring more residents to our beaches and waves…
  • Demo the new boards and the new tricks that Heather and Seb have designed
  • Model the new swimwear coming out soon for the guys and girls.
  • Location to be determined… Your suggestions are needed!

But like I said, most of this is just ideas, floating in our heads. What I’m wondering is, would you like to see this event happen? If you feel like giving some feedback, send me (Maxwell Eclipse) a notecard answering the following questions:

  1. Do you want to see this event happen?
  2. Where would you want this event to happen?
  3. Would you like to participate as a demonstrator?
  4. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Feel free to also slap any comments or questions on the notecard, and I’ll get back to you.

Party at Quan Li

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Article by Max Eclipse

Quan Li is definitely a cool place to hang out. I was hanging out there all day and night, hitting the waves with Kaela, fishing with Chotaire, and chatting with Sebastian. But when all the forces of Quan Li meet, only one thing can happen.

Quan Li Party!

A party, what else? Nothing but heaven — cocktails, sand, and beautiful people. And the adorable puppy with the cookie in his mouth, Rip, was also in attendance. Everyone was cooking marshmallows, indulging in drinks, and mingling, and then someone busted out the drums.

Drums?

These were the coolest damn drums ever. And there were lots of them, before you knew it, everyone was banging on them! One of the gorgeous ladies, Comet (the so-called Leader of the Army of Cuteness) was holding Rip, while the men got into formation for a little drum concert.

Drum concert!

The party slowly dwindled down. After all the marshmallows and the booze, everyone was getting a little tired. That is, until Sebastian busted out his freakish cat thing, and Chotaire went monkey.

Woah.

That was terrifying. However, it spawned a little bit of AV craziness! Everyone decided to dress up as something. We had a broken dragon, a monkey, a red moogle, and a mini Elvis! In the words of Comet, “everyone got all cutified!” And that we did.

Cuties?!

Sebastian was coming up with some weird AVs, as were the others (like Uranus, apparently). I stayed in my moogle outfit, and Sebastian decided to wear some crazy outfit. I don’t know what it was supposed to be, but I called it the Anti-Christ. Anyways, I pulled out my trustworthy minigun, preparing to battle the beast…

Moogle Minigun!

Now, I wish this ending was dramatic, but it wasn’t. I put my minigun away and everyone bailed. Cause it was REALLY late, right… 4:30 or so AM, (SL time) and everyone was getting a little dizzy and disoriented. So we all bailed. But it was A LOT of fun, I hope another spontaneous party happens again. And maybe next time, Keala can come… that’d be great.
