Keala's Notes

Movie madness…

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

The entire Laguna Beach Club crew and I were all working hard all weekend getting the stage set for the Sundance movie premiere… and it was perfect. The screen was set, surfboards propped up next to the screen, and platforms for our surf couples to hang out at…

Lester and Keala at work

Lester was setting up the new hot tub at the club and I was helping out… really, I was.

THEN, just two hours before the event was to start, Vali found out the movie was going to show in widescreen… so we had to re-do the whole screen very quickly. We finished just in time for the pre-show at 4 pm and everything looked fantastic… but you have to take my word on that. I was running about and crashing every five minutes, I didn’t get a chance to take ANY photos!

Luckily, Inara managed to send me one before she crashed for the day as well…

The showing at our Laguna Beach location was fantastic and SO MUCH fun… people talking during the whole movie, passing the popcorn, making out, ordering thai food… I heard other locations were far more serious, with residents being ’shushed’ during the film. Gah, it takes the fun out of it… heh heh. And it was — mad fun.

Working on the weekend? np.

Outside my window, it’s freezing cold and snowing intermittently… but here, I’m working in the perfect, warm sun at the beach in a bikini. It just doesn’t get better than this…

Can I say, ‘I love my job’?

We’re getting set to host a simultaneous live feed of the upcoming Sundance film premiere for ‘Four Eyed Monsters’. Vali has done a gorgeous job of building out the stage platform and the collection of palm trees behind the screen. I’ve added several surfboards to the set, and we’ll be having some friendly surfers and team riders hanging out on stage before the film. In fact, two of our newest team riders, Emme Bourjade and Malcolm Sydney, will be hanging out before the show… they are both super friendly, take wicked photos, and looooving surfing SL like you wouldn’t believe. Check out some of their new photos…
