Party at Quan Li

Quan Li is definitely a cool place to hang out. I was hanging out there all day and night, hitting the waves with Kaela, fishing with Chotaire, and chatting with Sebastian. But when all the forces of Quan Li meet, only one thing can happen.

Quan Li Party!

A party, what else? Nothing but heaven — cocktails, sand, and beautiful people. And the adorable puppy with the cookie in his mouth, Rip, was also in attendance. Everyone was cooking marshmallows, indulging in drinks, and mingling, and then someone busted out the drums.

Drums?

These were the coolest damn drums ever. And there were lots of them, before you knew it, everyone was banging on them! One of the gorgeous ladies, Comet (the so-called Leader of the Army of Cuteness) was holding Rip, while the men got into formation for a little drum concert.

Drum concert!

The party slowly dwindled down. After all the marshmallows and the booze, everyone was getting a little tired. That is, until Sebastian busted out his freakish cat thing, and Chotaire went monkey.

Woah.

That was terrifying.?√ᬨ‚ĆHowever, it spawned a little bit of AV craziness! Everyone decided to dress up as something. We had a broken dragon, a monkey, a red moogle, and a mini Elvis! In the words of Comet, “everyone got all cutified!” And that we did.

Cuties?!

Sebastian was coming up with some weird AVs, as were the others (like Uranus, apparently). I stayed in my moogle outfit, and Sebastian decided to wear some crazy outfit. I don’t know what it was supposed to be, but I called it the Anti-Christ. Anyways, I pulled out my trustworthy minigun, preparing to battle the beast…

Moogle Minigun!

Now, I wish this ending was dramatic, but it wasn’t. I put my minigun away and everyone bailed. Cause it was REALLY late, right… 4:30 or so AM, (SL time)?√ᬨ‚Ćand everyone was getting a little dizzy and disoriented. So we all bailed. But it was A LOT of fun, I hope another spontaneous party happens again. And maybe next time, Keala can come… that’d be great.

Surf Spot review done by Namiko’s own Maxwell Eclipse

I’m a relative newcomer to Quan Li, only finding out about it when Keala showed it to me. Nonetheless, it’s now my second most frequented beach, and I find more and more about it that I like with each visit.

The beautiful Quan Li

When I first landed on Quan Li, I was a bit intimidated. It’s alot bigger than Amore, and Amore at the time was the only beach I had ever been to. Nonetheless, I had to ride those waves. They were calling to me, and Max Eclipse was ready to answer. One of my favorite things about Quan Li right from the start is the free boards lying around. That meant that the poorest people could still ride in style. It also meant a test drive for Sebastian’s boards (which are amazing, by the way).

Max and surfboard

Speaking of Sebastian Saramago’s boards, Quan Li is where you can find them. You can get them custom done (which I intend to, eventually) or buy some of his pre-made ones (which are gorgeous). I ride with one of his boards, you should too.

Surfboards aren’t the only cool thing Sebastian has for Quan Li, either. I found a fishing rod and tackle box lying around, and found out about?√ᬨ‚ĆLes White’s?√ᬨ‚Ćawesome new fishing rod! I had to check this out, fishing in SL? Are you crazy? It’s awesome. You can catch several different things, with the goal of catching them all! I’ve caught three tires! The only downside is that the rod can only be used at Quan Li, but why would you want to leave Quan Li anyways? It’s awesome.

Fishing rod?!

Every beach has to have a main attraction. Something to draw the thrill seekers and those not faint at heart alike. Some beaches have beautiful women, others, cool rides and animations. Quan Li? The TSUNAMI wave. It’s?√ᬨ‚Ća beast, and it’s a hell of a ride. Novices steer clear, unless you want to eat saltwater and have your face sting for weeks. It doesn’t care who you are, it will chew you up and spit you out. The wave is also on sale for those who want to add a little punch to their beach.

The beast!

That’s not to say Quan Li doesn’t have drawbacks. I’ve noticed during my sessions that the lag sometimes isn’t as good as I would hope (though it’s not as bad as Laguna was, oh no) but who cares about lag when you’re surrounded by funny people, beautiful babes, and a whole lot of waves?

Max.

All in all, Quan Li is a damn good place to hang out. It might not hold a place in my heart like Amore does, but it’s freaking beautiful. It’s got good people, a killer wave, beautiful trees, and what can I say? It makes me look good.

Surf Spot review done by Namiko’s own Max Eclipse

I’ve been all over Second Life. I’ve hit Laguna, rode the tsunami at Quan Li. Hell, I’ve been to Bora Bora. But one beach stands out: Cin Cin on the Isle of Amore.

The beautiful beach Amore.

“But Max, Amore doesn’t have a tsunami wave!” You might say. No, it doesn’t. But a tsunami wave isn’t anything if the beach it’s on doesn’t have heart, and when you talk about heart, you talk about Cin Cin. It was the first beach that welcomed me into its arms, the beach I lost my SL surfing virginity to. I’ve met a strange cast of characters here, each of them as unique and entertaining as the last. Hell, I met Keala, herself, on Cin Cin.

Maxwell, and two babes.

There are A LOT of things to do on Amore, too. There are working two seated jetskis, windsurfing and lots of stuff for couples including a little getaway shack. There are waterslides, too, for anyone who wants to give the inner kid a little fun!?√ᬨ‚Ć There’s an on-site ice skating rink, a hot tub, beautiful scenery and the most gorgeous sunset in all of Second Life!

Max and the beautiful sunset.

Surfing here is fun too, and isn’t that what this is all about? The waves are solid, and while not?√ᬨ‚Ća tsunami, are steady and good for people new to the SL?√ᬨ‚Ćsurfing experience. The on-site boards are crap, so if you really want to experience these waves, you should pick up one of Sebastian’s boards. I know I did, and it was worth every penny.

Maxwell hitting Amore's great waves.

Amore’s got a natural beauty to it. It’s ridiculously beautiful, and so are the women (and I would know, if you get my drift). It’s the perfect romantic getaway and the lag is not as bad as most beaches. It’s a separate sim, free from exploring noobs and griefers, too. Oh, and did I mention the waterfall? A three-story waterfall reaching to the top of the mountain is quite the beauty. It’s also a perfect place to unwind and relax.

Max relaxing by the waterfall.

All in all, I am proud to be Namiko’s Amore Local. It’s an honor, and I am flattered. This beach is my home, my surf spot, my retreat, and a great damn place to pick up chicks. And if it’s good enough for me, then it’s good enough for you.
